Biography
Ada Elizabeth Chesterton (1869–1962) was a British journalist and social campaigner, the sister-in-law of G. K. Chesterton. She was a pioneering investigative journalist who went undercover to expose poverty and homelessness in London. Her book In Darkest London (1926) documented her experience living among the homeless, adopting disguises to access shelters and workhouses. She founded the Cecil Houses for homeless women, which still operate today. Her journalism combined personal witness with social advocacy.
