Frederik Pohl

Biography

Frederik Pohl (1919–2013) was an American science fiction writer, editor, and literary agent who shaped the genre for over seven decades. As editor of Galaxy and If magazines, he published groundbreaking stories by the field’s leading writers. As an author, his satirical novels (often co-written with C. M. Kornbluth) combined sharp social criticism with inventive science fiction premises. His solo novel Gateway (1977) won the Hugo and Nebula Awards. Pohl’s career spanned the entire modern history of science fiction, from the 1930s pulps to the twenty-first century.
