George Dilnot (1883–1951) was a British journalist, crime writer, and author of detective fiction. He worked as a journalist covering real crime and the Metropolitan Police, giving his fiction an authentic procedural flavor. His detective stories, including those featuring The Doer (a nickname for a detective), are noted for their realistic portrayal of police work and criminal investigation in early twentieth-century London. Dilnot also wrote nonfiction about Scotland Yard and famous criminal cases.
