Harry Harrison
Biography
Harry Harrison (1925–2012) was an American science fiction author known for his humorous, action-packed novels and his advocacy within the genre. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and worked as a comic book artist before turning to writing. His best-known works include The Stainless Steel Rat series, the satirical novel Bill, the Galactic Hero, and the dystopian classic Make Room! Make Room! (adapted as the film Soylent Green). Harrison was a founding member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and edited several anthologies. His work is characterized by fast-paced action, dark humor, and social commentary.
