Biography
Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany (1878–1957), known as Lord Dunsany, was an Anglo-Irish writer and one of the founders of modern fantasy literature. His mythopoeic tales of invented gods and enchanted lands predate and directly influenced Tolkien, Lovecraft, Ursula Le Guin, and Neil Gaiman. Dunsany wrote novels, short stories, plays, and poetry in an ornate, biblical prose style. He created some of the first fully realized secondary worlds in fiction. Also a champion chess player and big-game hunter.
