Biography

The “Anonymous” author category on TextStack collects works whose authorship is unknown or traditionally unattributed. These include some of the greatest masterpieces of medieval literature: Beowulf, the founding work of English literature; the Nibelungenlied, the greatest German medieval epic; and Gudrun, another major medieval Germanic poem. These anonymous works represent the collective literary genius of their cultures and remain essential reading for understanding Western literary tradition.
